Algos

In general algorithms are written to try to imitate how traders would trade the market in real life using indicators to guide the purchase and sale of a stock or futures contract. With the NinjaTrader platform you have the option to build your own logic for trading using strategy builder, I started this was Spring of 2019.

I can tell you that the strategy builder is fairly straight forward to use once you get some practice, but this said even knowing how to build a strategy does not mean you will build one that works. I have probably written over 100 strategies in NinjaTrader and was NOT able to find one that showed a profit, not one. The missing link that I had was that I did not have enough experience being profitable trading on my own placing trades manually.

With this I then started to look to the trading community to find different courses to learn how to trade, also looking at the different options for Algorithms I could subscribe to. I did start out with a trial of the NexGen system, this system showed promise but I did not have the capitol or knowledge at the time to make the investment.

My next step was joining an alert room offered by a company I will not name on my page, whom I found on TikTok non the less. I can say that I had some success with the alerts, I also signed up for the digital learning.

Company X (Not Named)

The same company that offered the alert room started to offer a algo, the owner contacted me when I dropped out of the alert room to tell me about something new that was being developed. Rough timing of this was December of 2020, I chose to subscribe to this service, in initial testing results were better than I was able to create on my own.

Over the course of the past few months there have been multiple algos offered through this company, the last algo I used with them still has the same name as the one offered on the website (updated April 2023). I am sure this product has been updated and improved over the past years.

All of the systems worked to a degree, for a time I actually helped put together settings for users to use and help those that needed it in the trading group. The last system I used was the most promising of the systems that had offered, I can say that I had spent hundreds of hours testing and assisting with the development of that system.

Update: In following company X some over the past year or so, it does seem that they have some news algos that appear to be more robust and successful. I have not had the opportunity to test myself, but it is something I would consider. If at some time I do I will update with results.

Pros:

• System has shown to be profitable
• Coding of the system was completed by a professional programmer
• Trading group is a good support system

Conclusion: like anything in the trading world be cautious, but its no more risky than trading futures in general.

Algo Ninja (Update: No longer in Business)

In my testing and trading with the other system I continued to look at other options, this system stood out for sure. With that as time allowed I did some testing and finally made the decision to drop all connection to the other company and switch to using these systems full time.

I had made the switch in April of 2021 and it was a big change from the other algo, with regard to person to person interaction. The algos offered are professionally built, offer everything that the other algo offered but with additional features that are critical to successful trading.

Pros:

• Professionally built and fundamentally sound
• (4) robust algos for 20% of the cost of the (1) Other system
• Trading group is very professional, room is filled with successful trading professionals
• New ideas and development is constant, continuous product improvement
• Ownership / management is very trustworthy and honest

Cons:

• Systems are still on the newer side, documentation and support structure is still being developed
• Trading group is not as active from the user side, but improving

Results: I have been testing the system for three weeks now, so honestly its early to give a full evaluation. But that said I did trade using my live account (real cash) on one Micro market. This said I have a profitable week, better than I ever saw with the other systems.

Conclusion: Time will tell, all signs are positive so far.
